Ten Tors triumph

King's had another excellent year in the Ten Tors Challenge, with all three teams completing their routes. The 35-mile team finished in excellent time, with this their first taste of the Ten Tors experience.

The other two teams created something of a record. For the first time in the school's history, King's had identical twins, Hugo and Ross Turner, taking part in the successful 45-mile team.

And there were two milestones for the 55-mile team. Four of the six have now made it a clean sweep of the three distances, having completed the 35-mile route in 2003, the 45-mile route in 2005, and now the 55-mile route in 2006.

For school captain Venetia Maitland it was a personal triumph, as she is the first girl in King's history to complete all three routes.

Ten Tors co-ordinator at King's Ron Mason said "All three teams showed great spirit, determination and a lot of physical and mental courage in this gruelling event."
