R D V Knight
Roger retired in 2006 from the Marylebone Cricket Club at Lord’s Cricket Ground, where he was Secretary and Chief Executive for twelve and a half years. Before that he was a schoolmaster for twenty-four years at Eastbourne College, Dulwich College, Cranleigh School and Worksop College, where he was Headmaster. After leaving university he combined teaching for the winters and playing professional cricket in the summers for fourteen years. He played for Surrey CCC, Gloucestershire CCC, Sussex CCC and returned to the Oval as captain of Surrey CCC from 1978 until 1983, before retiring at the end of 1984 to concentrate on full-time teaching.
He is currently Chairman of the European Cricket Council, Chairman of the ECB Association of Cricket Officials, President of Cambridge University Cricket Club, a Governor of Dulwich College as well as Custos of the King’s Schools, Taunton.
