King's Multi-Sports Academy
King's regularly hosts as well as organises a number of multi-sports events – these include trialthon, biathlon and pentathon.
We are supported by local former GB pentathlete Lydia Rosling, who runs a number of our multi-sports training sessions every week.
"Multi-sport activities are a sport that involves more than one discipline. Here at King’s College the number of athletes that have joined the school has been increasing over the past few years. We wanted to give the wider community the opportunity to develop in this area of sport. This can range from a basic triathlon, swim-bike-run to a modern pentathlon; fence, swim, ride, laser-run. There are many other activities that are a variation on each other including biathlon, tetrathlon and aquathlon to name a few."
The King’s Multi-Sports Academy is designed to offer top level coaching from Lydia, with numerous weekly sessions on offer each week.
The training can be flexible – you can just book onto the sessions that you want to attend.
We recognise that children take part is a variety of sports, which we would strongly encourage. Therefore, we have built a programme that can work around other activities.
In addition to the training programme Lydia can offer private
lessons here at King’s College. The Academy is for boys and girls from 8 to 18 years. This programme has helped support pupils such as Sam Cobb, who is a
boarder at King’s College. This year Sam became the European Biathle (run-swim-run)
silver medalist, the European Triathle silver medalist (continuous
run-shoot-swim) and has been selected to represent Great Britain in a Modern
Tetrathlon (fence, swim, laser-run) in Germany later this year.
