Rugby v Taunton School

In atrocious conditions the 1st XV still looked to play positive, expansive rugby, with James Huxtable controlling the game superbly with tactical decision making. A well-executed set-piece move put Harry Canning clean through to score the only try of the game. The 2nds had to endure a scrappy affair, with some missed tackles allowing the opposition to score a converted try. Toby Barnes Yallowley scored a well-worked try out wide, but we couldn't manage the conversion. The 3rds found the going tough against a powerful pack. James Gray scored our try, and the stand-out players were Ollie Dent, David Aimufia and Tom Roberts.

The Senior Colts put in their best performance of the term, tackling resolutely, with Ollie Gibb imperious in the lineout. The Bs were always on the back foot, but played with great spirit, and made the opposition work hard.

The Junior Colts were at their very best, the forwards providing quick ball for the backs. Laurence May kicked well at fly-half, Archie Watts was as tenacious as ever, and Ted Vickery had a superb first game for the As, in a resounding 24-0 victory. The Bs too put in one of their best performances of the season, with storming runs by Jack Storer, Alex Grace and James Fisher in the pack. Immaculate handling despite appalling conditions saw us lead 19-0 by half-time, and the second half saw Ollie Driscoll, Corbett Sykes-Moore and Arthur Keeling particularly catch the eye.

The Under 14s played with positive intent, scoring eight tries in their 46-0 win. Connor Bannister scored a hat-trick, and there was one apiece for Will Potter, Charlie Rodgers, Blaine Tottle, Hamish Manger and Jack Holmes. The Bs conceded two soft tries early on, but Harry Parkin rallied the troops, and tries by Will Bishop and Ralph Lawson put us back in contention. From there on in it was all King's, as we ran out 39-17 winners.
