Pringle Trophy winners

Nine of our Royal Marines cadets have won the prestigious Sir Steuart Pringle Trophy national competition, held annually at the Commando Training Centre, Royal Marines, Lympstone. The competition aims to test cadets from all 18 Royal Marines detachments around the country, including those from Winchester College, Harrow, Charterhouse, Rugby, Shrewsbury, Wellington College and Canford.

The cadets take part in an arduous two-day competition, testing them both physically and mentally. During the first day, cadets are assessed on nine stances including section attacks, first aid, weapon handling and camouflage concealment. The second day consists of a race, in kit, around the Royal Marines endurance course, the most demanding endurance course in the country, which includes all-terrain runs, Peter's Pool, tunnels and the renowned sheep dip.

Our cadets, now recognised as the as the best Royal Marines cadet section in the country, won individual stances in weapon handling, as well as both A and B team endurance races. Special thanks must go to Captain Peter Belfield and Lt Steve King for their monumental efforts in training the team to such prestigious success.
