Hockey v Taunton School
There was a well-deserved 6-4 win for the 1st XI, with Issy Germain having a fantastic game in right midfield. Jodie Burrows played with real passion, while debutant Fleur Netley's terrific performance was rewarded with a goal. The 2nds started the game brightly, but suffered two injuries in the first five minutes, which left the squad with just 11 players for the remainder of the game. A hastily re-organised defence took time to gel and conceded twice, but tireless work from Amelia Evans, Kate Webster and player of the match Holly Davis kept Taunton School out for the rest of the game. The 3rds had a good result against a strong Taunton team, with Charlotte Palmer dominating left midfield, and before long Holly Matthews turned her defender to find the back of the net. Taunton came back strongly, and despite fantastic defensive play from captain Jessica Danaher and keeper Ruth Canham, Taunton found the equaliser in the second half. The Under 15s found themselves outgunned for most of their game, but battled strongly against more powerful opposition. The Bs however won yet again, starting strongly but failing to convert numerous chances in the first half. Finally after the interval Jess Kennedy opened the scoring, and despite a swift response from Taunton School, Katy Preece swept in the winner in the final quarter of the game.
It was another good team performance by the Under 14s, though we quickly went a goal down somewhat against the run of play. We defended well and began to move the ball around, resulting in second half goals for Tarn McIntosh, Hattie Harrison and Alice Sitwell, as we ran out 3-1 winners. The Bs started strongly and quickly took the lead with Izzy Clarkson and Jess Spiers setting up a beautifully positioned Rosie Dymond. Three more goals from Milly Bramble, Becky Vickery and Izzy Clarkson secured an extremely satisfying win.
