Rugby v King's Worcester
A monumental victory for the 1st XV erased the memories of last year's defeat. Powerful forward play and excellent support work set up tries for Will Webster, Ed Dawson, Ed Nash and Tom Halliday. Stern and determined defence ensured we kept a clean sheet. An abrasive display by the 2nds' pack, led from the front by skipper Harry Brimacombe, laid the foundations for another impressive victory. Tries by Richard Dawson, Henry Potter, Gavin Penn, Josh Brooksbank, and two for the captain, were beautifully converted by Charlie Marr. After a slow start the 3rds put together some fast-flowing rugby, with the ball being kept impressively alive for long passages of play. Kristian King helped himself to a hat-trick with some dazzling footwork, there were two for Lee Paisley, and Harry Slater added his name to the scoresheet with a well-taken try.The Senior Colts turned in a spirited performance against strong opposition. In an impressive 12-5 away victory, there were tries for Ben Broadhurst and man of the match Nathan Smith. The Bs reversed another of last year's results with a cracking 33-0 win. Tries were scored by Toby Barnes Yallowley, Shane Scott, Ian Giles, Alex Clarke and Ross Wright, with Harvey Morris converting superbly.
An interception try in the first few minutes by Sam Merriweather set the Junior Colts on the way to an impressive 31-0 win. Further scores came from Will Griffiths and Milo Reynolds, with two in the final minutes from Dominic Bracher. The Bs played their best rugby of the season to lead 7-0 at half-time. Unfortunately we suffered five injuries and lost our shape rather, but the defence was huge.
Slow to start the Under 14s conceded two soft tries early on, but Todd Barrett and then Robin Danaher levelled the scores. George Chapman finished off a sweeping move to give us the lead, but we conceded in the final two minutes, denying us what would have been a famous victory and just reward for an outstanding display by skipper Robin Danaher. The Bs had a very evenly contested game, and were unlucky to concede two tries to charge downs and one to an interception. Despite a spirited fight back, we couldn't quite draw level, but the tackling was immense.
