Hockey v Wellington

The 1st XI dominated what could have been potentially a tricky fixture. After a number of short corners, we finally converted one with an excellent move between Tori Canning and Hattie Cunningham, followed early in the second half by a terrific strike from Katie Vickers - Mel Palmer impressed at right-half, and Louise Webber and Alex McKean worked hard throughout. The 2nds put in a really good team performance, with Lucie Raleigh and Lucy Barker scoring a goal apiece. Jodie Burrows was our main player, and put two past the keeper. Alex Taylor dominated the defensive midfield for the 3rds, in a thoroughly enjoyable game played in great spirit. Danni Taylor controlled the midfield, Alex Taylor scored two really properly struck goals, while Amanda Bell helped herself to hat-trick.

The Under 15s started brightly and dominated the first ten minutes, but couldn't find the net. Poor concentration allowed Wellington to score two soft goals, and King's didn't really get back into the game until the final ten minutes. Hannah Cartwright was outstanding in goal. For many of the Bs this was their first competitive hockey fixture at King's. We were strong in defence with keeper Alice Davies making several excellent saves, while Lucy Chapman was player of the match for her pace and determination.

The Under 14s held their more experienced opposition in the first half, and were unlucky not to score. Megan Scott played superbly in goal, Hermione Warmington scored an excellent goal, and player of the match was Holly Davies for her determination in defence. The Bs grew in confidence as the game progressed. Lara Clark, Flora Webster and Charlotte Palmer impressed throughout, and the team finished strongly, which promises well for the rest of the season.
