Hockey v Taunton School
In a very exciting game, the 1st XI went into the half-time interval 1-1, thanks to a goal from Tori Canning, only to concede two soft goals straight after the break. We fought back bravely with an excellent strike from Hattie Cunningham, but as we chased the equaliser, we left ourselves exposed at the back. The 2nds had a very evenly contested match, and played some excellent hockey, particularly in the second half. Sarah Gardener led from the front in midfield, and Becca Doyle and Georgie Thomas were superb in defence, and we were unlucky not to come away with a draw. The 3rds though dominated throughout, looking strong in midfield and playing most of the game in the attacking half. Amanda Bell struck twice and there was a goal for Mhairi Hall, in a game played with excellent team spirit. The 4ths played out a goalless draw. The Under 15s started with confidence, playing good quick short passes, but unfortunately we couldn't find the cutting edge in the final quarter. The opposition made the most of their chances, and although we continued to have the better of possession and territory, we never found a way to trouble their keeper. Player of the match Olivia Taylor worked tirelessly in midfield and was at the centre of everything. The Bs were swamped rather by strong and skilful opposition.
The Under 14s started strongly and put the opposition under pressure, but were unable to convert this pressure into goals. Victoria Clark battle hard in midfield, and Hermione Warmington eventually found the net from a narrow angle, which gave us a well-deserved goal. There was some great play by the Bs in their 1-1 draw, with strong performances from sweeper Connie Holmes and Lara Clark. It was a determined display in the second half, and we were unlucky not to secure a win.
