Hockey v Canford
The 1st XI got off to a bright start, scoring in the second minute. However a lack of concentration allowed Canford back into the game, with us coming second eventually in an eight-goal thriller! The 2nds lost by the odd goal in five, but the 3rds eked out a well-deserved1-1 draw. Canford made an impressive start, and were one seriously good goal up in minutes. But we fought back strongly, with Danni Taylor tireless in midfield, and Amanda Bell scoring a well-struck goal. This was a terrific performance, full of guts and excellent team spirit. The 4ths struggled to hold strong opposition.
The Under 15s started slowly, and found themselves down at half-time, despite a great team goal finished off by Alice Konstam. King's dominated the first 12 minutes after the interval but couldn't force a goal. Players of the match were Ginny Nash and Alice Konstam. The Bs were faced with much stronger opposition, but never lost heart.
Canford's Under 14s were confident and strong on the ball, while we were still on the bus. The defence worked tirelessly though, and the second half was well-competed, with an exceptional performance from Michelle Pearn in midfield and several good saves by Megane Scott. The Bs competed well, but couldn't contain powerful opposition.
