Hockey v Bryanston

The 1st XI got off to a bright start with an incredible strike by Katie Vickers, the ball flying into the top left-hand corner. With three new players in the team however due to a big netball competition, a lack of concentration allowed Bryanston back into the game and take a 4-1 lead. We fought back bravely but had left ourselves too much to do. Mel Palmer and Alex Wynn played a huge part in keeping the opposition at bay. The 3rds played their best hockey of the term against a mix of Bryanston's 2nds and 3rds. Katie Butler again pulled off several excellent saves, and Mhairi Hall worked tirelessly at feeding the forwards, who scored twice without reply. It was a great effort by the 4ths, even though they ended up the losing side. Caroline Lloyd scored our goal, and Kalina Wong and Alex Ihde were dogged in defence.

After an uninspiring first half, the Under 15s were lucky to get to the interval 0-0. The second half saw a complete transformation with some neat one-touch passing and aggressive pressing. Hollie Bell converted a great move, Olivia Taylor and Kate Taylor pressured in midfield, and Alice Konstam was a constant threat up front. The Bs enjoyed a great 4-0 victory, keeping the pressure on Bryanston all game, and picking up lots of loose balls. Elle Domellof and Alice Davies ensured the game was played deep in opposition territory.

The Under 14s turned in their best performance of the term so far, really playing as a team and pressing up front. Charlotte Parris swept in a well-taken goal, while player of the match Lucy Sharp created a whole host of opportunities with her angled running and positioning off the ball. It was an excellent effort by the Bs, with the score 1-1 ten minutes into the second half. However we lost our winning aggression rather, though Lucy Dunham made several excellent saves.
