Kristian wins Arkwright Scholarship
Kristian King has kept up the DT department's remarkable tradition of winning prestigious Arkwright scholarships. He's pictured here picking up his award at the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Savoy Place, London.Scholars are selected following a rigorous selection process comprising an application, sitting the Arkwright Aptitude Paper, and an interview. During the interview students present their GCSE project work to a panel, and have to demonstrate a commitment to design, engineering and technology. Interviews are hosted by universities across the country; interviewees take part in a team activity, and tour the university's engineering and design departments.
173 scholarships were awarded nationally, following applications from 803 candidates. At the award ceremony, Kristian heard the news that, out of all the successful projects in the country, his work had been given the Sir Henry Royce Award for engineering excellence.
