Record breaking A Level results
Pupils at King’s were celebrating this week when they received record breaking A Level results. We recorded an excellent 68% of those vital A and B grades. This was a 6% improvement on the previous year and makes this the fourth year of consecutive improvement at King’s.Among the ten departments who achieved over 80% in A and B grades were English, Maths, Design Technology and Drama, which shows the true breadth of success across the academic curriculum at King's. Of the many local families who were highly successful this year are the Snell brothers, Gareth, school captain, and younger brother David who amassed seven A grades between them, Gareth at A Level and David at AS. Vicki Hewitt, James Walker and Tom Elphinstone achieved a string of straight As, along with an A grade in every module, and national U18 orienteering champion Ruth Holmes has now confirmed her place to study at St Catherine’s College Oxford.
Headmaster Chris Ramsey said: "I’m thrilled that all the hard work from pupils and staff has been rewarded. Over two thirds of these students gained one or more A grades, all but a tiny handful of exams were passed, and ten pupils – more than one in eight – gained three or more top grades. Our results are just getting better and better”.
With a 99% pass rate, and a record percentage of 36% A grades and 68% AB grades, this marks a very significant year of achievement for King’s and reflects the level of commitment made by both the pupils and staff.
