About Maria

MFL Teacher

Maria is a French national who read English, Russian and Media Studies at Rennes University in Brittany. She has been living in the UK since 1996 and studied languages for her PGCE at Exeter University.

She has a passion for learning, and recently returned to education and completed a Masters Degree in English Language and Literature with the University of Caen. She has a particular interest in post-colonial literature and her dissertations focus on the work of Toni Morrison, Maya Angelou and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

As well as teaching modern languages, Maria is our Teaching and Learning Co-ordinator. Her role is to encourage teachers to reflect on their own practice and develop their skills. She is in charge of developing the school's weekly CPD programme as well as co-ordinating the whole-school Inset days throughout the year.

She enjoys researching ideas which help make a difference in the classroom and ultimately in the lives of our pupils.
