Oxbridge success

Three elated sixth form pupils from King's have been offered places at Oxford this year. Oliver Jones (St Benet's Hall, Classics), Olivia Higgs (St Catherine's College, Law), and Alexandra Thorne (Brasenose College, Modern History), will be joining the prestigious university in October.

The three pupils will need to achieve the high A Level grades required for admission onto their chosen courses. However, all are confident of doing so due to the high levels of support and guidance provided by the teaching staff at King's. Olivia said "King's has encouraged me in my ambitions to study law, and has given me the opportunity to conduct work experience in highly regarded law firms, alongside my study. This has proved a huge benefit, as relevant work experience is highly regarded by universities, and it also confirmed to me that I definitely want this particular career. I am very much looking forward to studying at Oxford: St. Catherine's has a very good atmosphere and will provide me with fantastic opportunities."

Headmaster Richard Biggs says "I congratulate the three pupils wholeheartedly. They represent a dynamic and exciting bunch of sixth formers at King's. We are not an academic hothouse and our students succeed in a great variety of areas - including sport and music and drama - but our academic results are very strong and our students are very successful at getting into highly competitive universities".
