Hockey v Canford

The 1st XI finished on the wrong end of a losing scoreline, and despite having a good share of the play, Canford took most of their chances, whereas we did not. Tristan Marshall scored our goal after some good King's build-up play. The 2nds returned to their winning ways with well-worked goals from Will Griffiths, Bertie Broughton and Will Walters, which sealed a comfortable victory. George Lang controlled the game in midfield, and Will Hardwick also created plenty of chances. The 3rds were in sparkling form, stringing together some accurate and incisive attacks. Will Pope was magnificent in goal, and the team as a whole played with confidence and skill.

Despite fielding a weakened side, the Senior Colts often looked the better team. Though Canford took the lead, Robert Ellis and Tom Farrow looked solid in defence, and we equalised through Robin Danaher after some excellent running in midfield. Canford then caught us on the hop, resulting in a disappointing finish. The Bs again showed terrific character, coming back from 3-1 down at half-time to dominate the second half, getting back on terms with goals from Lloyd Griffiths and Greg Albery to add to Matt Jaffa's first-half effort.

The Junior Colts battled hard against well-organised opposition, and were unfortunate to be 1-0 down at half-time. The workrate in defence from Doug Denton, Corbett Sykes-Moore and Archie Watts was exceptional. The Bs had a close game that could have gone either way, but we just couldn't find the back of the net. Man of the match was Kelvin Choi for his speed and skill in midfield.

The Under 14s gave Canford too much space early on, and were behind by half-time. Harry Sharp though scored a good goal to bring us back into contention. The Bs let in some soft goals in the first half, but rallied well after the interval with a much stronger performance.
