County Championships
The Somerset Schools County Championships took place at Taunton Racecourse on a fine day, but in very wet and muddy conditions. Though sadly some of our runners were unavailable due to ill-health, there were some excellent performances, resulting in five of our athletes being selected to represent Somerset at the South West Championships.Leading the senior boys home was new county champion Charlie Maclean, beating arch-rival Nathan Young by a considerable margin. Harry Marshall finished 13th, just one place ahead of Tom Smith. Mhairi Hall ran really well for her hard-earned silver medal in the senior girls' race, and for the junior girls, Hattie Harrison came 10th, and Penny Guess 14th. Michael Peek came 20th for the inter boys, and Blaine Tottle finished a very respectable 9th in the junior boys' race.
The South West Championships take place in Truro on Saturday 27th February.
