Hockey v Taunton School

For the 1st XI, a stunning 6-1 victory was easily the best performance of the season. The defence blocked out Taunton School superbly, and in attack Jos Buttler scored twice from open play. In the 2nds' game, a magnificent goal by Will Smith completed a thoroughly good first-half performance. After the interval defensive lapses cost us dear. The 3rds had a closer game than the scoreline suggests. We missed a lot of chances, but Matt Billing found the back of the net from a short corner.

The Senior Colts never really got into their game. Harry Canning and Richard Elliott both scored, but we were always playing catch-up. The Bs though put in an awesome performance, with Ben Foll contributing a hat-trick to the 7-0 win. There was also a brace apiece for Thor Lawson and Luke Gavin.

The Junior Colts bounced back to their very best, taking a 2-0 lead into the half-time interval, thanks to goals from George Wayman and William Walters. The second half was less impressive, with Hikaru Ichikawa forced into making several good saves, but Dominic Bracher scored a breakaway goal to seal the win. The Bs had an even match, and needed grit and determination to secure the win, Aron Marshall scoring the decisive goal. In their first ever game, the Cs played with great determination and skill, dominating from the outset. James Purdy slotted home the winner after magnificent build-up play - an unbeaten season!

The Under 14s found themselves up against much stronger opposition and struggled to get on terms. It was a creditable effort from the Bs though. The defence stayed firm in the face of sustained pressure, and Elliott Chambers and Harry Heal caused the Taunton School defence problems of their own. Another outstanding performance by the Cs resulted in a terrific 1-0 win, Nuno Akarapongpisak scoring the winning goal.
