Hockey v Queen's

The 1st XI enjoyed a close fought battle between two evenly matched sides. A clinical finish by Ben de Figueiredo after Thies Boening on debut had beautifully taken down an aerial ball gave King's the lead, but unfortunately Queen's equalised from a short corner. The 2nds dominated play for much of the game, and goals from William Smith and William Everett seemed enough to secure victory. Queen's though scored three quick goals shortly before the end. Despite a valiant effort from the 3rds, the speed and determination of the opposition proved too much.

With no fixture for the Senior Colts As, it was left to the Bs to fly the flag for the fifth form, which they did in style. With lots of possession in the first half, and playing good structured hockey, we took a deserved 1-0 lead thanks to a Luke Gavin goal. In the second half we had to defend strongly, before goals from Tom Parris and Luke Gavin again made sure of the win.

The Junior Colts dominated, and created multiple scoring opportunities. Dominic Bracher opened the scoring, followed by a second from George Wayman, with Queen's snatching a late consolation goal. The Bs had a terrific game, and perhaps should have scored more than the single goal by Nick Mason that secured victory. There was great work from the midfield, with a special mention for David McNeill and his silky attacking skills.

A hat-trick for Tristan Marshall made sure of a comfortable win for the Under 14s, and there were passages of really stylish play. A good win overall, though this team is capable of playing better, and will improve during the course of the term. The Bs struggled to string passes together in the first half, and were made to pay by the opposition. We played much better as a team in the second half and had chances, but couldn't get back on terms.
