Hockey v Millfield
It took 20 minutes for the 1st XI to adjust to the pace of this game, by which time the damage had been done. King's rallied well in the second half, playing good attacking hockey and defending resolutely. The 2nds stuck to their task well against strong opposition. Grant Little played well in defence along with Rob Seabourne in goal, who had another excellent game. The 3rds showed great determination again in their game. It was by no means a one-sided affair. The Senior Colts found themselves involved in an even first half, but after the interval Millfield's skill told as we got tired and concentration lapsed. Nevertheless it was a very good team effort.
The Junior Colts had a very competitive game, leading twice, and 2-1 up with ten minutes to go. Millfield's perseverance told in the end, but it was an excellent game in which we showed great commitment and determination. The Bs though ran out comfortable 6-2 winners, doing well to come back from an early goal down. There were two goals apiece for Nick Mason and Sam Vickery, with David McNeill and Tom Sharp both figuring on the scoresheet.
The Under 14 Bs showed great self-belief against potentially dangerous opposition. There were sterling efforts by James Jennings and goalscorer Harry Heal, but it was a real team performance. The Cs played with heart and a great deal of energy, holding a larger and more skilful side for much of the match. Josh Lambert was excellent in goal, pulling off some astonishing and instinctive saves.
