National success for girls hockey

Our Under 16 girls hockey team are through to the quarter-finals of the National Schools Plate Competition. Having previously beaten Bruton School for Girls and Cheltenham Ladies College, King's easily beat Exeter School 6-2 to take them into the last eight in the country. We started slowly, and allowed Exeter to score an easy early goal in the first five minutes. It didn’t take long though for the King's side to settle, and we soon equalised with a well-taken goal by Jodie Burrows. We then stepped up the pace, chasing down every ball, and putting Exeter under pressure. Holly Domellof tipped Hattie Cunningham's well-executed pass around the stranded keeper to put King's ahead. At half-time we were 3-2 up, with Hattie Cunningham having scored a third.

In the second half King's dominated, putting three more past the keeper. Hattie Cunningham put two more away to complete her hat-trick and Rebecca Potter, who had worked tirelessly throughout the game, completed the scoring. Player of the match for her vision and clinical running was Holly Domellof.

King's have a four-week break now over Easter, but when they return to school in April they face Millais School in Horsham.
