Football v Blundell's
The 1st XI couldn't get past the Blundell's captain, who pulled off save after save in an otherwise one-way match that King's should have won. The 2nds' game told a similar story, with only Henry Potter scoring in another result that didn't really reflect the run of play. The 3rds squad of 15 though travelled to Blundell's for their first outing, and secured an impressive 4-1 win, with goals from Ian Hargreaves, Ed Dawson and Fritz Heine. At 4-0 up Doug Love spectacularly failed to convert a penalty, and Blundell's scored a late consolation goal. Man of the match James Miller made several impressive saves in a memorable encounter. At home, the Under 16s had a very competitive game between two evenly matched sides. We paid for a sloppy start, after which we missed chances. The team worked hard but need to develop a more clinical streak to win hard-fought games such as this one. The first ever Under 15 match saw the home side put up a spirited performance. We created plenty of chances, but were eventually outplayed by a skilful and well-organised Blundell's side.
