Area Schools
It was a very successful afternoon for our cross-country runners at the Area Schools Championships, held at King's this week. A total of 18 schools took part, both independent and state, and there were large fields in nearly all the races. The highlight of the afternoon was Charlie MacLean winning the Under 17 boys race, but there were plenty of excellent 2nd and 3rd placed performances. Matthew Peek came 2nd in the Senior Boys race, while Harry Hudson came 2nd in the Junior Boys. George Chapman and Lloyd Griffiths both ran well in their first race for the school.
In the Under 17 girls race, we took 2nd, 3rd and 6th places. Mhairi Hall was the first King's runner home, followed closely by Olivia Taylor, with Alice Round not far behind.
Just a few days later Charlie MacLean was in action again, this time at the spectacular South of England Championships, heldat Parliament Hill in London. Charlie came 21st in a huge field for the Under 18 boys race, and was one of the youngest runners taking part in a two-year age group.
