Somerset Schools

It was another successful afternoon for King's athletes at the Somerset Schools Cross-Country Championships, held on a gloriously sunny February afternoon in the grounds surrounding Millfield School. Having led for most of the senior boys' six-mile course, Ryan Higgin was overtaken in the closing stages and had to settle for a highly creditable 2nd place. Di Hobbs came third in the senior girls race, with Mhairi Hall 8th among the intermediate girls, closely followed by sisters Alice and Zoƫ Round.

Charlie MacLean came an impressive 2nd in the intermediate boys race, beaten only by Nathan Young, the national champion. Tom Lawson came 6th and Matthew Peek 20th.

Ryan, Di, Mhairi, Charlie and Tom have all been selected for the Somerset team competing in the South West Championships in March.
