OA reception in House of Commons

A very successful reunion of the OA Club was held at the Terrace Pavilion at the House of Commons at the beginning of March. The event was hosted jointly by Headmaster Chris Ramsey and Geoffrey Cox QC, MP for Torridge and West Devon, who is himself an OA.

The reunion was a sell-out, attracting over 150 OAs from all over the country and as far away as Canada, and covered a very wide age range of leavers from 1945 to 2005! Many former and current members of staff and other guests, including two former Headmasters and their wives – James and Sue Batten and Simon and Sheila Funnell - as well as Magnus Mowat, Chairman of Governors, enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with old acquaintances. The Terrace Pavilion made a splendid venue with magnificent views over the Thames and the city.

The joint hosts delivered some very entertaining speeches and Geoffrey Cox took guests on a private tour of the House of Commons, which was an additional highlight of the evening.

The OA Club has over 4,500 members and holds regular sporting events and reunions at King’s and elsewhere. However, contact has been lost with some former pupils as they have changed address - and the school would be delighted to hear from any former pupils or former parents: please contact Jane Hewitt on 01823 328238.
