Training for London Marathon

Two of our pupils have been have been selected to run in the London Marathon in 2007. Anna Bury and Ryan Higgin, both in the sixth form, have already started training for the big event which takes place in April.

Anna is running to raise money and awareness for Whizz Kids, a charity which her mother has previously run for. Anna said "I think that the work that the Whizz Kids Charity does is wonderful. It provides children with limited mobility to gain more freedom in their everyday life. The charity is really supportive of all their runners and I feel very honoured to be given the opportunity".

Ryan is running to raise funds for the British Lung foundation, an organisation that a member of his family has been helped by. Ryan said "I am very pleased to be running for this charity; it does a fantastic job supporting people who really need their help".

Both pupils have already started running four to five times a week as part of their training programme and intend to build up their distances as the big event draws nearer.
