Maddie wins full England cap

King's College pupil Maddie Hinch has just been selected for the England Under 18 hockey team. The 17-year old goalkeeper from Keinton Mandeville wins her first full England cap against Ireland in February, in the opening game of this season's internationals, following an exhaustive series of county and regional trials.

She was the outstanding player in the King's 1st XI, who have enjoyed an excellent season that included victories over Richard Huish College, Taunton School, Canford and Wells Cathedral School. She is also a nationally recognised athlete, coming 4th in the under 17 javelin at last year's English Schools Championships.

Maddie said "It's been my dream really to represent England, ever since I started out as a goalkeeper. I'm sure I'll be nervous, but that usually just helps me play better."
