King's wins Blundell's Rugby 7s

In a series of dominant performances, the King's 1st VII stormed to victory in the Blundell's Rugby 7s tournament. First up in the group stages were Bryanston, unbeaten in the Michaelmas term, and Rugby World's Team of the Month for January. King's ran out winners by a comfortable margin of 21-7, before overwhelming Taunton School 36-14 and West Buckland 42-0, to come top of the group.

Sherborne in the quarter-finals were swept aside 33-0, and victory over King's, Bruton by 38-12 set up an exciting final between King's and the hosts Blundell's, renowned for their rugby 7s. But with confidence high, King's raced away to a convincing 40-12 victory.

Coach Ray Codd, who retires in July, said "I had reason to praise the team on many occasions last term, but I have to say that the performance of the whole squad in this tournament was truly outstanding. They are an extremely talented and highly motivated set of individuals."
