Oxbridge success for four of our pupils

11/01/2012
Four King's College pupils have been offered places by colleges at Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Ella Watts has been offered a place to read Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, while local pupils Connie Holmes and Greg Albery have won places at Oxford to read Biological Sciences at Pembroke College and Keble College respectively - Charles Marshall has also been offered a place at Oxford to read Computer Science.
Connie, Greg and Charles all began their education at King's Hall School before moving on to the senior school at King's College in Taunton.
Headmaster of King's College, Richard Biggs, said "We are delighted that the hard work these pupils have put in over the years and, above all, the genuine and obvious interest they have shown in their studies, encouraged by outstanding teachers, has resulted in these wonderful offers. I know they, along with their peers, will thrive at university. It's good also to see that eight of our other Oxbridge candidates impressed sufficiently to be called for interview. To achieve twelve interviews out of a year group of 88 is something of which we should be very proud."
"We have had a very strong year for university offers, including places at other prestigious universities such as KCL, Imperial and LSE, and several to read medicine, and these four Oxbridge successes are the icing on the cake."
