Leiths School of Food and Wine comes to King's

01/02/2012
Leiths School of Food and Wine has come to King's this term, with the chance for pupils to take part in the Leiths Basic Skills Course. King's has been granted a licence by the world-famous cookery school, and is introducing the course to two sixth form groups of pupils.
In an essential preparation for university life, pupils are taught a large number of skills and techniques, such as knife skills, vegetable and meat preparation, baking and sauces, as well as menu planning exercises, and what to look for when buying ingredients.
The course is taking place in the brand new cookery centre at the school, where Headmaster Richard Biggs and other members of the teaching staff have also been put through their paces in a taster session. There are also plans already in place to hold an inter-house Masterchef competition next term.
