Leavers win impressive university places

University success

06/09/2011

King's College pupils have achieved unprecedented success in winning university places this year.  Of the 75 of last year's leavers who held university offers, 62 have won their places on some highly regarded courses at prestigious universities.  And this in a year that many regard as the most competitive ever in the scramble for university places before tuition fee rises next year.  All those who held Oxbridge offers will be taking up their places as a result of their A Level results.

Of all subjects taken this year, 16% attracted A* grades, and 44% received A* or A grades.  Of the 82 pupils taking A levels this year, an astonishing 22 achieved three or more A*s or As.

The courses this impressive group will be studying range from Engineering at Durham to Music Technology at Kent.  There was success too for former pupils now heading off to read Mathematics at University College, London, and English and Drama at Royal Holloway.
