Pre-Season Rugby Training at CTCRM Lympstone
Our new Director of Rugby, Ed Lewsey
has wasted no time in getting our rugby players in shape and ready for the new
There are some talented young players coming through the rugby set-up at present and coming back early to train together was an important starting point to the season.
Last week they spent two days at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (CTCRM) at Lympstone as part of a pre-season training camp, focusing on all aspects of their fitness, including strength and conditioning sessions, rugby skills, tidal beach runs and some pretty grueling work on the Royal Marines assault course.
The rugby players then returned to King's for a further three days of training.
Phil Lewis, our new Director of Sport, said: "This is a hugely exciting time for our rugby and our new coaches have certainly made a big impact. Ed Lewsey and Assistant Coach Wayne Sprangle work superbly together, and the boys have already learned a huge amount about themselves and the game of rugby during these pre-season sessions.
He added: “I even got stuck into a couple of the fitness sessions myself and regretted that decision a couple of days later."
King's play their first home game of the season on Saturday 16 September.
