Languages Soirée

Last week's Languages Soirée was a resounding success.

Freddie Cole was the host for the evening. An accomplished dual linguist, Freddie has an excellent command of German and French, but he also proved to be rather proficient in Welsh, Afrikaans and Italian.

Among the many beautiful songs and poems which were presented, Mikhail Vtornikov recited in Russian You don't choose your time by Alexander Kushner and Mrs Forward sang in German An Sylvia by Shubert, accompanied by Mr Ridley.

Later, Grace Albery, accompanied by Mr Albery, gave a superb rendition of La pastorella delle Alpi by Rossini. Anson Ng inspired us all to reflect on our lives with his Cantonese poem called Tree by Wu Yin Ching.

The event came to a close with Mr Biggs and Father Mark's duet singing De la Rey by Bok Van Blerk in Afrikaans.

Mrs Duckham would like to thank all those who took part in the event and for making it such a success.
