King's Swim Team Kick-start the Summer Season
At the end of April, 24 pupils took part in the first swimming competition of the summer season.
Looking suburb in new kit, our swimmers from all year groups took on a very even matched competition against Wellington School.
At the half way point, Wellington School were ahead by three points, but our swimmers stayed focused and stuck together to bring the school level by event 18.
The freestyle ‘splash and dash’ events were exceedingly close and with tension and excitement building for the final relays, it was all to swim for! The King’s team kept their heads down and swam fast – winning the event overall with 144 points, with Wellington School finishing on 139.
On Wednesday 3rd May, King’s presented a larger squad of 26 swimmers for the gala against Queen’s College.
Notoriously a tough team to beat, King’s pupils put in a tremendous effort to keep Queen’s on their toes. With outstanding performances across the year groups the strength and depth of the King’s squad shone through.
After a brief amendment to the schedule, the determination and infectious energy on poolside, saw the King’s team continue to shine.
The event concluded with King’s finishing just one point behind Queen’s College (not including any points gained from Queen’s forfeiting any races). A fantastic achievement for all involved and an excellent start to the swimming season.
