Last month, Fourth Form pupils Daneel Louw and Sergei Vtornikov competed in the South West Regional Water Polo Tournament.

Held at Millfield, the boys formed part of the Somerset County Junior Squad and competed against teams from Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

This was the first time that Sergei and Daneel had represented the County and the first in many years that King’s College have competed at this level.

Both boys performed exceptionally against some very strong teams, with Sergei stepping in as Somerset goalkeeper on one occasion.

Daneel’s performance improved significantly throughout the tournament, leading to the Somerset team securing a place in the final. Unfortunately, the Cornish team narrowly beat them in the closing match.

Water polo is a developing sport at King’s College, with sessions available weekly. We have a strong link with Taunton Deane Water Polo, which ensures our pupils a seamless player pathway for those wishing to get involved.
