King's College Welcomes New Scholars
King’s College is delighted to announce that we will be welcoming an impressive number of scholars in September, including multiple award-holder, Catherine Hayton.
Catherine, who attends Perrott Hill Prep School near Crewkerne, took part in the recent scholarship assessments at King’s and, after demonstrating exceptional potential in cricket, was awarded the prestigious Festival Scholarship, alongside an Academic and a full Sports Scholarship. Catherine was able to demonstrate her sporting, and well as her academic prowess, across a number of sports and subjects. She is the final member of her family to join King’s College – her older brothers Finlay and Alec are both much-valued and successful members of the King’s community, having joined us in 2013 and 2016 respectively.
Commenting on Catherine’s academic potential the Headmaster, Richard Biggs, said: “Catherine performed at a high level in all of the exams. She impressed me a great deal during her interview and displayed her ability as an original and creative thinker. I am sure she will be good value in any class.”
Director of Sport, Phil Lewis, was equally impressed. “Catherine worked hard during the sports scholarship testing days. She showed impressive power, agility and footwork and performed well in all of her chosen sports. There is no doubt she would fit in well in the sporting community here at King's and I look forward to watching her develop in the years to come.”
Joint Acting Head at Perrott Hill, Bryan Kane said: “Catherine has used her time at Perrott Hill to very good effect. An exceptionally gifted all-round sportswoman and academic, she has enjoyed huge success in cricket and has always excelled in her exams. Serious-minded and mature, Catherine always gives of her very best.”
We wish Catherine a happy Summer Term at Perrott Hill and look forward to her joining us at King’s College in September.
