King's Bid Farewell to Exchange Students
At the beginning of the Lent term three pupils from the South African College High School (SACS) in Cape Town joined us for an academic exchange.
Haytham Jeppie, Panashe Gudani and Zach Baskir threw themselves into King’s life, attending Lower Sixth lessons including philosophy, history and drama, and taking part in a variety of sports.
Panashe is an outstanding cross-country runner. He trained regularly with the King’s squad and won the annual Exmouth Cliff Race, a challenging course along the South West coastal path.
During his month-long exchange, Zach threw himself into the King’s squash programme, playing regularly in the local league. He also showed off his impressive chess-playing talent at the weekly chess club meetings.
The boys also enjoyed travelling to different areas of the South West, including Bristol and the Quantocks, as well as taking part in the school’s co-curricular activities.
Following their GCSEs this summer, Fifth Form pupils Oliver Biggs, Joe Messenger and George Symonds will be going to SACS for a month. Jemima Dufosee, Alice Dymond, Phoebe Hake and Talia Lyon will also be visiting Cape Town and attending two girls schools, Herschel and Springfield.
It has been a delight to welcome such impressive and talented students from SACS and we look forward to building on our relationship with this wonderful school.
