Head of Hockey Wins Silver Medal

Our Head of Hockey, Clare Hayes, has just returned home from the Masters Hockey World Cup in Australia where she was playing for England in the over 40s tournament, helping the team to reach the final of the tournament that took place in Canberra between March 29 and April.

In their pool matches England beat USA 2-0, Wales 4-0 and New Zealand 5-0, drew 1-1 with Wattles (an Australian side) and lost 0-1 to Australia.

In the Gold Medal match England were beaten 1-4 by Australia so it was with a silver medal that Clare returned home.

As well as her role at King’s, Clare also coaches the Ladies First XI team at Taunton Vale Hockey Club.

Commenting on her recent achievement, Clare said:

“It was a great

experience to play for England in the Masters Hockey World Cup and it was just

a pity that after getting through to the final, we had to settle for the silver

medal".

"I have thoroughly enjoyed playing for England and will work hard to try and continue to do so. Pulling on the England shirt makes me feel immensely proud and hopefully I can try to inspire others to work hard at their hockey to be the best they can be."
