GB and England Hockey Player Simon Mantell Puts Our Boys Through Their Paces
GB and England Hockey player Simon Mantell visited King's College last month to put the King’s hockey players through their goal-scoring paces.
Throughout the afternoon Simon coached our U13 (from King's Hall), U14, U15 and U16 boys’ teams as well as the first team.
Being a striker himself, Simon taught the boys some tricks of the trade. They listened well and worked hard to put Simon's advice into practice.
As well as meeting a player of Simon’s calibre, thanks to Jon Cooper BMW made an appearance and the boys were especially excited to see the new i8 sports car, although they were not as excited as Mr Shaw, who got the opportunity to drive the car around our school grounds.
Commenting on the training sessions, Simon said: “"I had a great afternoon at King’s; the kids worked really hard and there was some very promising hockey talent across all the age groups. Hopefully they will have picked up a few useful tips and I wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season."
Our thanks go to Simon for coming along and taking the time to coach our hockey players.
We wish him all the very best as he awaits a possible call-up to represent GB at this summer’s Olympic Games in Rio.
