Football Success for King's Newcomer Elena Pearce
Fourth Form pupil, Elena Pearce is making quite a name for herself in the footballing world, having recently played in goal for the England Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA) U16 team.
Elena, who lives in Probus, Cornwall, joined King’s College in September last year, after previously attending a summer camp at the school.
The highly talented goalkeeper helped the U15 girls progress to the fifth round of the English Schools Football Association Cup, and has since conceded just one goal in five matches throughout the term.
Last year, the King’s goalkeeper played for England ISFA in their 5-1 victory over Scotland at St George’s Park.
Elena started playing football when she was just four years old, and her mother soon realised that she was no shrinking violet.
In addition to playing for King’s, she is part of the Exeter City FC Development Programme. Elena trains under the guidance of Matt George, who works as a coach with a number of young players.
Director of Football at King’s College, Chris Heayns, said: “Elena works hard at her football and thoroughly deserves her success. She is a key member of our girls’ U15 team and has made the most of the opportunities that have come her way.”
