Fencing at King's
Fencing is an activity offered at both King’s College and King’s Hall School.
Sessions are run by Jaqui Besley (King’s Hall), and by Matthew Lang (King’s College).
We also employ external fencing coach, Nat Lewis.
Jaqui is a former international fencer and Commonwealth medal winner in foil.
Matthew fences foil and epee and has represented GB students in epee.
Nat is a full time FIE national and international coach in sabre and has won medals at many international competitions.
Training currently takes place on Monday and Wednesday. Both schools offer foil and sabre and have had success in the recent Bath Schools competition, an all-day event in which over 100 competitors took part.
The senior girls’ team came second in sabre, only one win from overall victory. The senior boys’ team were fifth. Loveday Hedgcock topped off the day by winning the senior girls’ competition.
We have plans to develop the club further over the coming years by starting pupils at age seven (school year three) right up to sixth form level.
We look forward to more success in the future.
