Ed Lewsey Announced as New Director of Rugby

Former Exeter Chiefs and Plymouth Albion player Ed Lewsey has just been appointed to take up the post of Director of Rugby at King’s in September.

Lewsey had an excellent playing record for the Chiefs and since turning to coaching has been Director of Rugby at the British International School in Abu Dhabi, enjoying a huge amount of success with the programme he put in place there. In addition to his commitment to rugby at King’s, Lewsey will also be teaching PE and History.

The newly appointed Director of Rugby has already outlined some exciting ideas and is in contact with the King’s first XV players that he will be taking on in September.

Headmaster Richard Biggs said: “This is an exciting time for rugby at King's, with a number of high profile first XV and A team players involved in representative rugby for the Exeter Chiefs, Bath RFC and Bristol, plus a talented crop of young players coming through the system".

He added: “The school is developing an excellent strength and conditioning programme for our top performers and, with Ed's experience, we are looking to develop an enviable programme for our rugby players. We have a strong rugby tradition at King's and look forward to welcoming Ed to King’s and wish him all the best in his new role.”

Regarding his appointment Ed said: “I am returning to the South West after six adventurous years in UAE and I am grateful to King’s College for giving me this opportunity to work at a school with such a rich history. I am looking forward to getting to know the pupils, staff and parents at the school, and to building on the work of my predecessor with the rugby programme at Kings.”
