Art Trip to Barcelona
At the start of the Easter holidays, 16 Sixth Form art and photography pupils set off for Barcelona. The three-day trip was packed with a mix of galleries, sketchbook drawing and photography, as well as visits to some of the city’s famous landmarks: Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell.
On Saturday evening pupils were treated to a spectacular
light projection show on the roof terrace of one of Gaudi’s houses, providing
stunning views of Barcelona and the surrounding countryside at night.
A good deal of time was spent walking and discovering the
narrow streets of the Gothic quarter, where pupils visited the stunning Picasso
museum. The old streets were a contrast to the very modern building that houses
the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Cultural Centre of Barcelona, where the
pupils visited an interesting exhibition about the history of Photobooks.
The eclectic and varied architecture of the city, combined
with the colourful street life, provided a great cultural experience for the
pupils. They have returned to school feeling inspired, with exciting photos and
sketch books to document their trip.
