Rosie Selected for Prestigious Performance Centre

Well done to our five musicians who entertained us this afternoon in the first #LiveLounge performance of the Lent… https://t.co/ohB6UyKK0l - 2 hours ago

Many congratulations to Third Form pupil Rosie Taysom who recently gained selection to the England Hockey Performance Centre.

The Performance Centre, which is based at King’ College, is run by England Hockey and appoints coaches for players aged 14-17 who have gained selection from all over the region. Designed to support player development, the Centre provides young and promising players with frequent, high quality training.

Rosie joined King’s in 2017 after receiving the school’s Maddie Hinch Scholarship for Hockey. She currently plays for the school and regularly trains at Taunton Vale Hockey Club.

Within the England Hockey Player Pathway, King’s has 24 players performing in the Development Centre, 10 within the Academy Centre, and 11 in the Performance Centre. Rosie will be joining these 11.

Following the continued success of our former pupil Maddie Hinch, we continue to celebrate the Olympic gold medallist’s outstanding achievements with our Maddie Hinch Scholarship.

It will be awarded to a pupil joining the school in Year 9 in September 2019 who demonstrates outstanding potential in hockey. The scholarship complements the various other 13+ and 16+ awards available and attracts a remission of up to 50% of the day fees.

Our Director of Hockey, Clare Hayes said “Rosie should be immensely proud of her achievements. She works incredibly hard at her hockey and seizes every opportunity to make herself the best she can be. She certainly has a bright future ahead of her.”
