Earlier this week, just under 30 strings players from King’s Hall School, The Downs, and Exeter Cathedral School joined us for our annual Prep School Strings Day. The musicians, who ranged from complete beginners to Grade 6 standard, rehearsed in both full and sectional groups before performing to a select audience at the end of the day.

The concert started with a lively hoe-down piece called Pizzin’ and Grinnin', followed by a composition inspired by Grieg’s Solveig’s Song. The concert concluded with an atmospheric arrangement of the rock song Radioactive by Imagine Dragons.

Music teacher, Alison Powell, said: “All of the pupils worked incredibly hard and the improvement from first rehearsal to final performance was staggering. Well done everyone!”
