On Tuesday evening pupils from King’s College and King’s Hall School joined together to welcome the Year of the Pig at a lavish Chinese New Year supper.

Always a popular event, the celebration saw over 100 pupils from both schools attend.

A delicious selection of traditional cuisines, including Chinese chilli beef, mushroom chow mein and assorted dim sums was on offer. The dining room was equally impressive, adorned with oriental decorations and handmade placemats. All cutlery was also replaced with chopsticks, resulting in a fun, yet challenging dining experience.

Prior to the meal, Fourth Form pupils Will Guo, Samantha Cheng, and James Zhou gave speeches in Mandarin, Cantonese and English respectively.

Summarising the night, International Tutor, Lisa Wroblel said: “It was a truly magical evening. Our Chinese pupils took great delight in being able to share this occasion with their King’s family away from home.”

She added: “I would like to thank Vicky Zhang, Chris Gu, Joyce Lai, Thomas Tsai, Carl Tsang and Jeremy Hau for helping me to organise the event, and to the Catering Department for their invaluable support. The spare ribs were a real favourite!”
