Deputy Head (Academic), Jonty Lawford, has been selected to represent his country in the England Hockey Over 45s’ squad for the 2019 season.

The squad comprises 23 players, of which 18 will be selected to play in a home nations tournament in Glasgow in June, and the European Championships in Holland this July.

This is a wonderful recognition of Jonty’s talents on the field, and his ability to balance both playing and coaching hockey.

Commenting on his selection, Jonty said: “I am very excited about being selected for the squad, but will need to work hard over the coming months to make the final 18. It has always been an ambition to represent my country and I am looking forward to the challenge of playing at this level."

Director of Sport, Phil Lewis said: “I have played both club and staff matches with Jonty and know, from personal experience, how talented he is. At school, he coaches our excellent 1st XI hockey team, and we are very lucky to have the experience, knowledge and enthusiasm that he brings to the game. We wish him the best of luck.”
