Many congratulations to King’s pupil Eleanor Clark who recently won the 13-15 age group category of the Somerset Anne Frank Awards (SAFA) Creative Writing competition.

Inspired by the life and diary of Anne Frank herself, SAFA honours acts of great personal strength and conviction and encourages reflective learning.

Over the summer, the charity invited creative minds from across Somerset to compose a poem, diary entry or even a short story, based on the following quote from Anne’s diary:

“Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.”

Fifteen-year-old Eleanor, who is currently in the Fifth Form, impressed judges, including acclaimed author Emma Carroll, with her short story. She received £75 worth of book tokens and a copy of The Diary of Anne Frank at a special awards evening held at the Brewhouse Theatre earlier this week. Her work will also feature in Brendan Books latest edition of LAMP magazine.

Well done Eleanor, this is a fantastic achievement!
