Why Play Hockey?

Why Play Hockey?

We are very much focused on the individual and helping them to be the best they can be, whether that is a top international player; someone who wants to play a good standard of club hockey or someone who just wants to play for fun.

In order to create the right environment, we need the right coaches. Our staff are passionate about hockey and we match the coaches to the squads to get the right fit. We also offer specialist goalkeeper coaching.

Opportunity Awaits

We coach according to the England Hockey Coaching Philosophy, which helps if players wish to progress through the England Hockey Player Pathway, but also if they just want to play, learn and develop their hockey.

We run 4 senior teams and two junior teams per age group below this. We enter the National Schools competitions at U14, U16 and U18 level and have a full and varied fixture programme.

To try to give our players a richness of experience we regularly take trips to the National Indoor Finals and to International Hockey Fixtures. We have guest in and organise sports tours to ensure our players experience hockey in its entirety.

Strong Connections

Strong Connections

Our players have access to our fantastic facilities and can play hockey all year around, indoor or outdoor.

We have a close relationship with Taunton Vale Hockey Club, where we encourage our players to participate. We also hold a number of hockey camps throughout the year.

Facilities

Facilities

Our facilities include two state-of-the-art sand-dressed artificial turf pitches, opened in December 2009 by Simon Mantel (England and GB) and former pupil Maddie Hinch (England and GB). Each pitch has six goals to ensure we can make the most out of our facilities when training. Our fantastic facilities enable us to host county and regional tournaments as well as being an England Hockey Performance Centre. We host other hockey clubs, other hockey events and West Masters hockey events
