Friends of King’s

Friends of King’s was founded on Whit Monday 1933 by Canon Kenneth Kirk, Provost, and has supported King’s College in many ways over the years. Now over 75 years old, Friends of King’s is as lively and involved as ever!

Since 1933 Friends of King’s have loyally supported the school in many ways, from cheering on the school sports teams in all weathers, attending concerts and theatre productions, to providing feedback and encouragement. In the past Friends have contributed generously towards the purchase of many of the existing facilities in the school.

Many parents and grandparents have expressed a wish to keep in touch with King’s College once their children have left the school and, since 2007, all parents automatically become members of Friends of King’s once their youngest child has left the school. Other relatives and supporters of the school are most welcome to join.

Friends of King’s exists to further the cause of the school in the broadest sense, to widen knowledge of the school and to maintain and strengthen ties both internally and externally. Membership offers Friends the opportunity to:

• Maintain links with King’s College and its staff

• Meet old friends and make new ones

• Reserve seats at specific concerts and theatre productions

• Enjoy refreshments at selected events

• Attend major sports matches

• Receive the termly Friends of King's newsletter [click here for the latest edition]

• Be kept informed about forthcoming events at the school [click here for the latest events list]

• Attend an annual Friends of King’s reception

There is no charge for membership and many activities are free to members, although some are self-financing. Friends of King’s ties and ladies’ headscarves are available from the Friends of King’s Office.

King’s College is most grateful to the many dedicated parents and staff (both former and present) and the many others who continue to support and enhance the school in so many ways, and who have been involved in the development of this successful, happy school.
